Wandsworth
The Eco village was built on 13 acres of prime building land assigned for an unwanted supermarket and luxury development by the corporate owners, Guinness. Instead in an act of protest, born of skip material, a variety of innovative buildings formed a 'mini town'. The site attracted every type of person. It held up two fingers to the insane luxury development that encircled it, became a beacon of hope for sympathisers, and appropriately was referred to as "Pure Genius"; poking fun at the Guinness advertising slogan that used the same phrase.
